SITXFSA006 – Participate in safe food handling practices

Our Food Handling Certificate (Level 2) course is designed for those people who have already completed their Food Handling Certificate (Level 1) course, and want to upgrade to become accredited as a Food Safety Supervisor. This is a straightforward course that will help you get accredited as quickly as possible.  It describes how to handle food safely during the storage, preparation, display, service and disposal of food.

Food handling is important as it keeps food germ and bacteria-free when served, displayed or stored. Poor personal hygiene or mishandling of food may cause the transmission of food borne diseases such as food poisoning, salmonella and other digestive system illnesses. We provide prospective Food Safety Supervisors with a food handling certificate online.

NOTE: If you required to do a re-certification of your Food Safety Supervisor Certificate. This is not the correct course for you. Please select the full Food Safety Supervisor (Hospitality) or Food Safety Supervisor (Retail) course instead.

Are you looking to upgrade?

Why spend time and money studying things that you know already? If you have already completed Level 1, then don’t do it again! Simply complete the Food Handling Certificate (Level 2) course and you can be recognised and employed as a Food Safety Supervisor in Australia, provided you have successfully completed the Level 1 course unit, ‘SITXFSA005 – Use hygienic practices for food safety’.

SITXFSA006 – Participate in safe food handling practices

Pre-requisites

In order to complete this course, you must first hold a Level 1 certificate (SITXFSA005 – Use hygienic practices for food safety)

You will need to meet our assessment condition requirements to complete our 100% online Course

Performance Evidence Video Submission assessment requirements:
This provides direct evidence that demonstrates your practical skills in an operational food preparation environment. You will submit your assessments (directly to the course page) by recording yourself completing several straight-forward examples of Food Safety in short, 2 minute smartphone videos, or setup a Zoom with one of our trainers to quickly demonstrate your skills live in less than 20 minutes.
Videos will need to be recorded in an operational food preparation environment or industry workplace.

Third Party Observation Report assessment requirements:
This provides supplementary evidence to further demonstrate your practical skills in an operational food preparation environment.
You must have a (recent past or present) nominated observer, with at least 18 months industry experience (eg. boss, supervisor, co-worker) willing to complete an electronic observation report on your behalf.

Please note: If you are looking to start your own business (e.g. at home cake making or a food truck) and you have no current food industry experience, or do not have anyone that can act as your third party observer, then our course is not for you. In this situation, we would recommend you research a reputable company that you can complete a face to face food safety course with. There, you can complete simulated activities in a suitably resourced training space and be observed by a qualified trainer.

NSW participants

In order to operate as a Food Safety Supervisor within New South Wales you require a certificate from the NSW Food Authority. A NSW Food Authority certificate will be added at the checkout if you live in NSW, at an additional total cost of $35 (which is the price the government charges to provide the certificate). As part of your assessment requirements, you will be required to provide us with a certified copy of your certificate for the unit ‘SITXFSA001 – Use hygienic practices for food safety’. There is a NSW government requirement that you must have completed the Level 1 course with a NSW approved provider within the last 5 years.

For system requirements required to complete this course, please see our Terms and Conditions. Our team are more than happy to answer any questions you might have about our Food Handling Certificate Level 2 course.
