In 2015, the NSW Food Authority announced some additional requirements for NSW Food Safety Supervisor training. Currently there are four key focus areas determined by the Food Authority. If you are seeking a NSW FSS certificate you must complete the four key focus areas.
- allergen management
- safe egg handling
- cleaning and sanitising practices, and
- Food Act offences.
This condensed NSW Extension FSS course is for those students who already hold a current Food Safety Supervisor (FSS) Certificate (must list unit of competencies SITXFSA005 and SITXFSA006) which is not less than 5 years old but are required to complete the NSW Key Focus Areas and required assessment criteria to receive your NSW Food Authority Certificate. If your statement of attainment certificate was for older units of competencies, please contact our office to be able to provide you with other options.
Experienced students should be able to complete this course in just a couple of hours. No Third Party Observation and Video Evidence is required to complete this course, it is fully online. You will be required to provide evidence of your current valid Statement of Attainment which must be less than 5 years old since the certificate was issued.
NSW Food Safety Supervisor certificates expire five years from the date of issue. To be issued with a new certificate, you are required to renew your Food Safety Supervisor training. The NSW Food Authority has developed processes to assist individuals with a current or recently expired FSS certificate to allow for re-certification by completing a condensed version of the FSS course for certificate holders who meet the re-certification requirements as part of the learning and recognition pathway.

NOTE: This is a condensed FSS course, specifically designed for the re-certification of existing NSW Food Safety Supervisor students. Upon successful completion of this course, you will be issued a Statement of Attainment (with the latest Accredited Food Safety Supervisor units) and a NSW Food Safety Supervisor Certificate valid for an additional 5 years.
